Recently, the Chinese Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs released thePublic Announcement on the Proposed Varieties for the National Crop Variety Promotion Catalog (2025). Our university’s wheat variety, "Bainong 4199," has been selected as a leading variety in the 2025 catalog.
Ensuring stable and secure supplies of grain and major agricultural products remains a top priority in building China’s agricultural strength. The selection and promotion of high-quality crop varieties play a vital role in achieving this strategic goal. Since 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has been compiling and releasing this national catalog, and "Bainong 4199" has been consistently included. This variety has also been listed for multiple years in the ministry’s recommended dominant crop varieties and won the First Prize of the Henan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2024. These achievements highlight our university’s significant contributions to ensuring food security and supporting high-quality, modern agricultural development.
Moving forward, our university will continue to uphold its distinct agricultural heritage—rooted in agriculture, thriving through agriculture, and serving agriculture. We will accelerate the breeding and promotion of superior varieties, improve yield and quality, and guide farmers in scientific seed selection and cultivation practices. Through these efforts, we aim to make even greater contributions to building a stronger agricultural sectorand safeguarding national food security.
